The importance of food as fuel and sleep for managing chronic pain

Patient advocate Adrian McGregor speaks with physio Evie Martin.

Adrian is a patient pain self-management expert and advocate, who has learned to manage his own persistent back pain. He has guided other patients on Pain Management Programmes as part of a multidisciplinary team.

In this video he speaks of learning to become his “own health architect”, and developing his own approaches to eating and sleep. He has found these aspects to be central to his ability to manage his chronic back pain. He discusses the importance of seeing food as “fuel” and of working with circadian rhythms to optimise sleep.
