Louise Trewern from GetBetterOnline and her wife Karen talk about their new favourite hobby: “Swimbling”
When they go for a nice easy walk in the forest, that’s a bimble.
When they bob about in the sea and move around, that’s a swimble.
Louise has fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis, and was disabled for many years due to chronic pain and high-dose opioid use. Her wife Karen became her carer and they both struggled for many years due to Louises’s deteriorating health. Karen also experienced problems with back pain and mental health problems due to their difficult situation.
After being admitted to hospital to taper her opioids, Louise established a routine of walking as a treatment for her pain. Her health and quality of life have dramatically improved in recent years, and this summer she began swimming again for the first time in 20 years.
It’s November. They’re still going!
